Interesting Sensation

Stepping out the door this morning was a surreal experience. I open the door, look down, and find the ground covered in a powdery dust.

The snow wasn’t the odd part, it’s a rare but not completely unusual happening here in Atlanta. When I saw the world, I expected to be hit by a gust of chill. My sweater usually sufficed in this type of situation, but today it was different.

It was warm. I’ve never had the sensation of being in snow, while at the same time being totally comforted. Snow here is usally melty and gets in your clothes, but this was a fine dust, like confectioner’s sugar on a cake. When I stepped on the white, it didn’t pack, but merely settled. As I walked towards the corner, the wind blew it off the trees, sifted it onto my face. Yet still, it was warm.

Interesting sensations like this make life good. A warm day, lightly dusted with snow. Even the birds were enjoying themselves.

It wasn't like this
